Fitness and Wellbeing

The NHS recommends focusing on simples, everday habits to support your health adn wellbeing in the new year.

  • Aim for regular physical activity - even short walks count
  • Stay active in ways you enjoy: Walking, cycling, swimming, clubs or home workouts
  • Balance activity with rest and good sleep
  • Eat a healthy, balanced diet and stay hydrated
  • Look after your mental wellbeing as well as your physical health 

Below are some examples of opportunities happening in 2026 to promote fitness and wellbeing in Oxfordshire.

Beezee Oxfordshire

BeeZee Oxfordshire is a free healthy lifestyle programme delivered by Maximus UK, offering tailored support for adults, men, and families across the county. Designed by behaviour scientists and nutritionists, the initiative helps participants make small, realistic changes rather than quick fixes to support sustainable weight loss and improved wellbeing. Adults can join BeeZee Adults either in-person or online with weekly sessions, habit trackers, peer support, and even 12‑week vouchers for Slimming World or WeightWatchers. For men, the “Gutless” 10‑week course combines webinars, camaraderie, and one‑to‑one nutrition guidance. 

Outdoor Activities

Park runs - Park runs offer an accessible and enjoyable way to improve physical health, enhance mental wellbeing, and encourage a sense of community through regular, inclusive physical activity.
 
Health Walks - Oxford City Health Walks provide free, friendly, and accessible guided walks that help people improve their physical health, boost mental wellbeing, and explore Oxford’s green spaces at a relaxed and welcoming pace.

Nuffield Joint Pain Programme

Nuffield Health’s free Joint Pain Programme offers a structured six‑month blend of expert‑led exercise, education, and personalised support to help people self‑manage chronic joint pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall quality of life. It offers a structured six‑month plan combining twice‑weekly group sessions for the first 12 weeks each featuring an educational workshop alongside 40–45 minutes of guided exercise, followed by 12 weeks of supported activity with free gym access. 

Classes in the Community

The Wolvercote Mill Community Centre and the Cutteslowe Community Centre offer a variety of classes including exercise, community engagement and art classes for everyone. This includes Yoga, Pilates, Art and Community Cafes. Visit their website to find out more.

 

Move Together

Move Together provides support to inactive adults who face barriers to being active. This includes individuals living with long-term physical or mental health conditions, disabilities, and those who are pregnant or post-natal.

You are eligible for Move Together if you are:

  • 16+ years old
  • Inactive
  • Have a long-term health condition or disability, are currently pregnant or have given birth in the last year
  • Are ready, willing and able to become more active
  • Living in Oxfordshire or your GP address is in Oxfordshire

Scheduled Events

Oxfordshire Live Well - This helps residents find trusted local health and wellbeing services, including Age UK’s Strength and Balance classes, which support older adults to improve mobility, boost confidence, enhance overall wellbeing, and reduce the risk of falls.

Sport in Mind - is a charity providing free, weekly, drop-in-sports and physical acitivity sessions for adults (17+) experiencing mental health problems, running year-round across Oxfordshire.

We have recently had noticeboards up and leaflets at our Summertown site to show the opportunitites that are available.

This can be found in the upstairs waiting room at the Summertown Health Centre.
